The Holocaust Exhibition and Learning Centre’s new, permanent exhibition, ‘Through Our Eyes’, tells the story of the Holocaust through the experiences of 16 men and women who experienced it first hand.

Exhibition director and lead curator Emma King will give a talk to the Huddersfield Local History Society entitled ‘Interpreting the Unthinkable: creating the Holocaust Exhibition and Learning Centre’.

Emma says: ‘Curating this exhibition was a huge responsibility. Not only were we dealing with some of the most horrific events of the 20th century, we were interpreting the life experiences of people in our own community. In this talk I will reflect on how we addressed the challenges we faced in curating the exhibition and offer some insights into the curatorial thought process’.

The talk will take place in the Bronte Lecture Theatre at the University of Huddersfield, starting at 7.30pm. The Holocaust Exhibition and Learning Centre will stay open until 7pm to enable those attending to see the ‘Through Our Eyes’ exhibition before the talk.  There’s no need to book, just turn up and pay on the door.

This event is run by the Huddersfield Local History Society. Please address any enquiries to them.
