This year’s artists-in-residence programme – with Maud Haya-Baviera, Irina Razumovskaya, Ariane Schick and Matt Smith – is coming to a close. The artists are all producing their final works and we are starting preparations for their group exhibition in autumn.
Come along to our online Open Studio Event to hear them speak about their work, get a first glimpse of works in progress and ask them questions about their residencies at Holocaust Centre North.
Over the past 7 months our Memorial Gestures artists in residence have had the chance to develop new knowledge in Holocaust history and memory studies; they’ve explored our archive; and finally developed artistic responses to our collections.
Working across ceramic sculpture, moving image, animation, photography, sound and printed work this year’s Memorial Gestures artists are exploring absences and traces of queer histories; intergenerational storytelling; trauma and post memory; family; identity and belonging.
