Bełżec

Bełżec was the first of the Operation Reinhard extermination camps to begin operation. When the camp opened in March 1942, deportations began and on arrival prisoners were killed in gas chambers. Despite only being in operation for nine months, approximately 434,500 Jewish people were murdered at the camp.
